Monday Made It: Math Version

Hey, hey!

Look at me, finally linking up on an ACTUAL Monday!  By the skin of my teeth! :)

Today was SUPER fun. My mom, my sister, my daughter, and I did some SERIOUS shopping today. Like 10 hours worth! We were mainly on the hunt for a Mother of The Groom dress for my mom to wear in my brothers wedding. She did find one, well she actually found three great choices but settled on one.

I got a couple of things while we were out. I am SO excited about these paper fans that I found at Party City.

They are going to look SO cute hanging from my ceiling. :)

So! On to my Made Its! They both happen to be math related actually.

MADE IT #1

So it seemed like everyone had cute letters spelling out READ in their rooms this past year. I am totally guilty of jumping on that bandwagon too. ( You can see them in this photo of my reading corner.)

Well, as I have mentioned before my mom is a math teacher at the high school in my district. I can tell you, because she would easily admit to it, that she is NOT the craftiest person in the world. So for her birthday I made her these cute MATH letters.

She is moving into a new classroom this year because of an addition being built on to our HS. I am going to try to get my hands on her room a little bit and cutesy it up using these colors.

MADE IT #2

I have been reading the book Math Work Stations by Debbie Diller this summer. ( LOVE her!) I have blogged before that I use her Literacy Work Stations model in my classroom and so I am VERY excited to use her Math Stations model this year. We are getting a new curriculum this year too so I am sure I will have some posts about math coming up this school year.

As I read through books I like to highlight and make notes in the margins. However, this book belongs to my school so I cant do that...but I have used almost an entire sticky note pad on it and I am only Chapter 4! I think I am just going to have to bite the bullet and buy my own copy. :)

One of the things that she recommends doing is to set aside time after math stations ( about 5 minutes) to allow students to share what they did or learned during math stations. She has some premade question cards in the back of the book. But they were just plain black and white...and well, we CANT have that! Ha-ha!

So I made up a little freebie inspired by the questions.

This is just a little preview of the cards.

You can check it out HERE.

I plan on printing, cutting out, and placing at my carpet area to help guide our discussion time.

Have you made something cute to share with all of us?

Link up with 4th Grade Frolics and share your made it!

  1. Thanks for being my first blog follower, hehe... I haven't even shared my blog with my family yet, so I was pretty giddy when I got an email that someone was actually following my blog!

Your library looks beautiful! I love the colors!

I am also a fan of Debbie Diller. I'm excited to read how your math stations are going in the future!

    Thank you,

    1. I remember getting my first real follower, it was QUITE a thrill. ( I actually was the first to follow my own blog. It looked so lonely. LOL!)

Thank you. I really loved how my library turned out too. It is one of the things I am FOR SURE keeping the same.

  2. The papers you used to make the freebies are ADORABLE!! I love the fans, but unfortunately we're not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling. The Fire Marshall won't have it :(
