Tell Me Something Good.

Anyone else sing that title in their head? Cause I totally did. :) I was perusing one of my favorite bloggers Angela Nerby over at Hippo Hooray for 2nd Grade. You can follow her HERE. Seriously, I don't know why she doesn't have like 1,000 followers by now. She has some great ideas. She linked up with Rowdy in 1st Grade for a wonderful idea for a linky party. Sharing the good stuff with each other.

Soooo perfect for the begining of the year because, even though I've been doing this for 6 years now I seem to forget EVERY year how challenging the begining of the year can be. I forget that those perfectly behaved children ,who knew all our routines and could have run the class without me, had to be taught those routines. That we had to practice and practice at each peice and that it took a lot of time and energy to get them to be the perfect angels I remember them to be. :)

SOMETHING GOOD AT SCHOOL

I can already see the progress that we have made from week 1 to week 2. One of the things that this group has been awesome with already is keeping our book bins nice and organized. I get the tubs out a little at a time until I see that they can keep the previous one's neat and organized. These kiddo's are definitely ready to get some more tubs out! I have some really supportive parents who are interested in their children's learning and want to help them ( and me) succeed. And of course, the best part, I LOVE these guys already. Again, every year I think " how can I possibley love another group as much as I loved last years". And EVERY YEAR it happens. I shouldn't be surprised by it. But I guess I'm not surprised so much as amazed at how quickly and easily it happens.

SOMETHING GOOD AT HOME

Truly the best part about my home is who I share it with. My husband, while not perfect but then again neither am I!, is super supportive and my daughter is truly the delight of my life. One super fun thing is yesterday I got a phone call from my daycare lady in the middle of the day. I ,of course, answered it because she usually only calls if something major has happened. She told me that someone had something to tell me. It was my daughter calling to tell me she had gone #1 and #2 on the potty! I was so happy and excited. Fellow parents you totally get me on this one I know. :)

It is always good to focus on the positives in your life rather than the negatives....even though it really can be easier at times to focus on the negative instead. What a great idea for a linky party. Thanks to Rowdy in 1st Grade for hosting. AAAAAANNNNNDDDD....look for my post WITH PICTURES of my room tomorrow. :) Enjoy your Saturday friends!

  1. Congrats on the successful "training" at school and at home! It makes life so much easier when our kiddos know what is expected of them and how to do it right! Glad I found your blog through the linky. I am your newest follower.

  3. You are so sweet! I don't know why YOU don't have 1,000 followers! Oh, and I hear ya on the potty training. Congrats to your daughter! I was CONVINCED my son (just turned 3 a month ago) wouldn't be potty trained until he was 14! But about a month before his birthday we took the plunge and gave it a go, and we haven't looked back! Keep the faith!!!

  4. I LOVE this linky party! I linked up as well. SO great to focus on the positives in life instead of the many long to-do lists we have that stress us out! You'll have to give some advice to keeping your book bins organized. We practice, practice, practice but it never fails that at some point during the day I have to go over and move some books around. haha

BTW - You might already have one, but I am hosting a giveaway on my blog! YOu could win a free, peronsal laminator! They are amazing! Come check it out if you get the chance!

    1. Heather, I will totally be heading over to check that out. I want a personal laminator SOOOOO bad. My husband is going to get me one for Christmas but if I won one than that would free up his money for something else...like say a fossil watch I am dying to own. :)

On my book tubs. I take 5 tubs at a time. Then while the kids are watching I take the books out of the tub and scatter them throughout our room all over the floor. (At this point they are looking at me like I am crazy.) Then I have them pick the tub that looks the most interesting to them. They are now on a team the other kids. Working with their team they need to find all of the books that go in that tub. I award stickers to the team that finds their books the quietest and the quickest. After a couple of days of them just focusing on taking out and putting back the books into the correct tub, I then put the focus on making them organized ( spines out, smallest to biggest that sort of thing). I also have two librarians whose job it is to sort and organize the tubs. About once a month or so I go through the tubs because I am super anal retentive about that stuff but for the most part it works great.

  6. Loving the potty positive! I was a nanny before I was a teacher and I swear our life was all about the potty. We were in a hotel when we had success for the first time and, thankfully, everyone in the ladies room cheered for the littler girl I had potty trained! Hooray! So happy you linked up!
